1.You remember playing games at Sindbad and madeenat 2000!
2.You remember Al Ghurair Centre as the one and only shopping mall around
3.The Trade Centre was an extremely TAAAAAAAAAAALL building, and could be seen from miles and miles away! and you would call it "benayat il Shk. Rashid"
4.You remember Chicago Beach!! And there was a stretch of open beach right next to it.
(Now its Jumierah Beach Hotel and the Madinat Jumeirah complex)
5.You remember the BIGGEST toy store back then: Dadabye ( dunno if i got the spelling right) and you would get all the toys and birthday gifts from there.
6.There was a falcon roundabout just as you came out of Shindagha tunnel, and a flame roundabout near present Danata
7.You remember Channel 33 airing an Indian movie at 10:30 on Thursday nights
8.All the local TV channels would have "prayer intermission".
A notice which would appear for a few minutes on the screen before the daily prayers.
9.Hardrock cafe was the first and ONLY 'sky scraper' on Shk Zayed's road you can see when coming from Abu Dhabi
10.Lamcy was originally just simple department story before it got burned to the ground.
11. Safeway was the coolest grocery store ever!
12. Shk. Zayed's road was a one way going and coming and would end a little bit after AlSafa park! (ok thats for 20+ i guess lol)
13. You played in Alwasl or alkhazzan or in the best cases Meshref park !!
and Al Safa park was MUCH muchhh smaller
14. Trade Center roundabout was a just a small hill, which we called "dewwar el Shk. Rashed alla yer7emah" where the indians would gather on in the weekends, and nothing would make them go back home except when the irrigation water is turned on!
15. 3adnan al ra2eesi and tasjeelt al Sha3b was our Virgin Mega Stores!
16. You remember the Bakery Mini-Bus which stopped in the neighborhood every afternoon
17. You would go to leisureLand or attend Quraan reciting schools in summer.
( i remember going to the one beside the jumeira mosque, facing palms strip today. lol)
18. The land after Jumeira 1 is all Jumeira 2 3 4 5 6...... etc
19. 4:30 was the Children's cartoon time in all dubai, sharjah, abudhabi and ajmans tv channels.
20. The coolest fast food restaurants were Arby's then Wendy's in the old Wafi and
Hardees and KFC alittihad road. Dubai/Shj Rd.
21. The Book Fair in Shj was a MUST school trip.
22. You had a philipino house maid which would watch the Bold and the Beautiful everyday at 7 on Ch33!
23. Maktabat 2000, Dubai lil tawzee3 and al Sharq al aw9a6 were the only stationaries.
24. Hatta was our destination for winter trips and we would come back home with bottles of FROGS!
25. You should have a stitching somewhere on ur body
26. You know how to complete this song "menshan yoom el arba3, abl el shams ma te6la3 .....
and finally,
28. You giggle and hide your face when u see that guy/girl in the mall because they were the kids you played/fought with before in the "freeeej"
